What is Gita Jayanti?
Gita Jayanti marks the day Lord Krishna imparted the Bhagavad Gita, 700 verses in 18 chapters, to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra. Observed on Margashirsha Shukla Ekadashi, it is celebrated with Gita path, discourses and Krishna puja in temples and homes across India.
Mokshada Ekadashi
The same Ekadashi is called Mokshada, 'the giver of liberation'. Tradition holds that observing this vrat with devotion helps free the soul from the cycle of rebirth and that its merit can be dedicated to ancestors.
