The story of Utpanna Ekadashi
According to the Puranas, the demon Mura attacked Lord Vishnu while he rested. A divine woman emerged from Vishnu's body and defeated Mura. Pleased, Vishnu named her Ekadashi and blessed those who fast on her day. Since this Ekadashi marks her birth, it is called Utpanna, meaning 'born'. Many devotees begin their yearly Ekadashi vrat from this day.
