Significance of Vivah Panchami
Vivah Panchami commemorates the marriage of Lord Ram and Sita at Janakpur, as described in the Ramayana and Ramcharitmanas. It is celebrated with special devotion in Ayodhya, Mithila and Nepal, and many couples pray on this day for harmony in married life.
In some regions, particularly Mithila, people traditionally avoid holding weddings on this day, since Sita's married life had hardships, so follow your own family custom.
